MSN Symbols are characters that you can type into your MSN name or MSN status. These symbols range from the normal letters and numbers to pictures, smileys and everyday objects. Live Messenger has always been famous for its in-built emoticons and smileys (it was one of the first chat clients to not only have emotions, but also to allow users to upload their own graphics to use inside the software) – however, you can still not use graphics inside your own name tag or status line – that’s where MSN Symbols comes in!

In this article I’ve picked five of my favourite MSN symbols for you to add to your name or status to really suprise, impress or shock your friends – try them out for yourself!

Number 5 – the Latin Cross with 3D shadow – ✞

This cross is one of the coolest symbols available to use inside your MSN name. Do you want to show off your faith? Want to send a message to a friend, that you’re in their thoughts and prayers at a special time of hardship? This is the perfect cross symbol for you.

Number 4 – a pair of ‘cut here’ scissors – ✂—–

The scissors symbol can create a number of humorous effects inside your MSN client – especially if you add some hyphens or dashes after it (as I have in the example above). You can make it look as if you have to cut along a line – or maybe you’re cutting someone off your MSN list altogether! You can also use this inside your chat box itself – tell someone to change the subject by cutting across the box!

Number 3 – a black smiley face -☻

If you’re bored of the smiley faces that they use inside Live Messenger, why not try using this different symbol to tell everyone that you’re happy! Variety is the spice of life!

Number 2 – The yin yang symbol – ☯

Originating in China, the yin yang symbol represents the balance of life – two complete opposites living in harmony and completing each other. What better way of saying to your MSN buddies that you’re chilling out? Relax and enjoy yourself!
